How much does Route4 cost?

 A six (6) month membership costs 5$

Fees are payable by credit card only, through our secured web page.

Our web site is fully secure for payment of your membership.

However, do not hesitate to contact us by telephone if you prefer.

 

You can be a passenger or a driver, without additional costs.

There are no other charges to pay, no reservation fees, only the contribution to the driver.

How does the Route4 service work?

Two different ways:

 

A) By clicking Start for Free! image located on our home page.

Submit the information regarding your regular or occasional trip. Include all details that can help us in our search of a match for you (return, sectors, intersections...) Become a member only when we find a carpooler who corresponds to your request.

 

B) By clicking on the Register Now! button located on our home page.

You can register as a passenger and as a driver, at no extra cost. Once your registration is complete, your member number and payment confirmation will be sent to you by email. You will be ready to start searching for a carpooler and enter your trip details.

Entering your trips and searching for matches

There’s no need to enter multiple dates or city names because:

• You can choose a variance of up to 3 days for your departure date.
• All Canadian cities are listed, offering maximum geographic coverage and data entry precision.
• The results automatically show departures from nearby cities, within approximately 15 km.
• Add as many cities as you want as stop-off points - they will act as pick-up or drop-off locations for you.

For example:

A departure entered for the 23rd of December, at 4pm
... with a 3 day variance
... from Toronto with a stop in Kingston
... final destination: Ottawa

Examples of results that would appear are:

• Departures on the 21st of December from Toronto to Kingston
• Departures the 23rd of December at noon through 9 pm
• Departures le 25th from Kingston to Nepean
• Etc.

As a member, take advantage of the following:

• No commission or contact fee to give to Route4 every time you carpool
• Get in contact directly with the other members who correspond to your request. No middleman, no waiting for our office hours.
• The contribution to gas-sharing is at your discretion.
• Our customer service is available by email or telephone to answer any questions or concerns.

 

How much is the gas-sharing rate for a trip?

To help people who might be uncertain as to the amount to contribute, it is considered adequate for a passenger to give approximately .08$ per kilometre to a driver. However, it is Route4 driver’s responsibility to determine an amount that is convenient for them.

 

Because our service allows carpoolers to commute regularly or on an occasional basis, it is possible for members to alternate vehicles from time to time, to travel a few days a week, to commute in the mornings only… There are so many possibilities!

Here a some examples of costs, with different transportation methods, for a trip Toronto – Ottawa (approx. 450 km)

Bus - one way only: $76.00
Cost : $.16 per km

Car - mid-sized model, 4 cylinder engine.
Consumption estimated at 8 litres / 100 km
At $1.00 per litre, this trip costs $56.25 in gas

Passenger who is ridesharing - Approximately $25
